BJJ (4-6 YEARS OLD)
This class is a child’s first introduction to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The primary goal, besides learning the art, is to instill discipline and focus into their daily lives as a foundation for learning. Children at this age are limited to the types of submissions that they can do by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) so positional understanding (mount, guard, back-mount, ect), reversals, takedowns and limited submissions are what will be covered. These classes are 30 minutes long
BJJ (7-10 YEARS OLD)
At this age a child is allowed to learn more techniques than the previous age group so that allows the instructor to delve deeper into the art. They are now exposed to more reversals, takedowns and submissions getting the students ready to move up into the next age group. This class is 45 minutes in length
BJJ (11-14 YEARS OLD)
This is the final age group available before moving on to the adult BJJ program. In this class the student is now allowed even more techniques, especially submissions, getting them eligible for promotion into the adult rank of blue belt. BJJ has a different belt system for adults and children. The practical self-defense reality of this art, age limits on certain techniques, makes the idea of a child black belt impossible. These classes are one hour in length.
This class will introduce the children to basic striking concepts like how to throw and defend punches, kicks, knees and elbows. It will also show them how to clinch properly, avoiding the punches or kicks, so they will be able to take an opponent down to the ground safely. They also will learn how to defend punches from the ground. This will be taught without the uniform (Gi) so the children will learn how to use their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the Gi also called No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or submission wrestling. This class has a uniform and equipment so please see the Professor or coaches for more details.
